California Gas Utility Data Center

A comprehensive capacity and reliability assessment that was performed by Touchstone Engineers led to a number of design and commissioning improvements.  Chilled water pipe loops were reconfigured to greatly reduce single-pint failure risks.  Two end-of-life UPS systems rated 750kW-1,000kW were replaced.   Data center power distribution was reconfigured to full 2N and troublesome STSs were eliminated.  A relatively new problematic parallel generator system was retro-commissioned, resulting in identification and remediation of several latent problems.   A dual-purpose docking station was added for connection to a roll-up generator and also for connection of a portable load bank.  Work was performed in and around the live data center with no downtime.   Reliability was significantly improved and single-point failure risks were largely eliminated.
