California Gas Utility Data Center

Touchstone Engineers designed two end-of-life UPS system replacements, rated 750kW-1,000kW.   Data center power distribution was reconfigured to full 2N and troublesome STSs were eliminated.  A dual-purpose docking station was added for connection to a roll-up generator and also for connection of a portable load bank.  Swing ATSs were added for cooling MCCs.  Modifications to an existing micro-turbine system were required.  As-built electrical single line diagrams and floor plans were developed for the campus, which originally dated to the 1960s.  Touchstone worked closely with installing contractors to develop, rehearse and carefully execute several live-work MoPs.  Work was performed in and around the live data center with no downtime.   Reliability was significantly improved and single-point failure risks were largely eliminated.
